Blocked printers, employees who skive by looking into their Facebook accounts instead of working, and attending pointless meetings have emerged as the worst irritants in offices, according to a survey.
The study, to mark the launch of TV channel Dave’s Best Part Time Job in the World, found that office workers hate the increasing use of jargon as well, and are not happy with poor technology.
Smelly colleagues, untidy co-workers and office gossips also made into the list of office gripes.
The poll of 2,000 office employees also noted that bad canteen food, meaningless perks such as dress down days, and motivational speakers brought in to boost morale annoyed the workers.
It showed that staff are frustrated and thwarted to know they may have to work until they are 69 before retirement.
Seven in 10 office workers said that they judge colleagues on their work etiquette, including poor table manners over lunch.
The survey found that new terms for increasingly common situations at work have been coined, such as the “Dracula shift” – meaning going to work and coming home in the dark – and “A bog shaker” – which means having a private breakdown in the toilet.
